Fashion Fridays: Statement Jewlery

Happy Friday!! This week has flown by and here we are at Friday again. This week we choose to focus on our favorite statement pieces.

Kira gave Ashley this ring with Ashley;s favorite catch phrase "ja'dore" on it.

This is one of Kira's favorite necklaces. She picked it up at an amazing jewelry trade show in Chicago last year while visiting family. It is simple and because it is black and gold it can easily be worn with many outfits. Sometimes she will even add another, simpler gold chain on while wearing this for a more dramatic look.

This is the same necklace as above, just flipped backward. Kira loves gold and recently realized she could simply turn the necklace around for a new all gold look.
One of Ashley's old co-workers gave her these fab boho-esque earrings. They go perfect with maxis!

Kira loves elephants! These earrings always remind her of Ms. Frizzle from the magic school bus.

Ashley purchased this lion necklace from Sway specifically for the Kanye's Yeezus concert.

Ashley loves this blue-green statement necklace. It really goes with everything!

This great little gold bow is a great mix of masculine and feminine. Kira also bought this from Sway.

Layering your bracelets always makes a statement! Load up on different colors and textures for a great
 "arm party"

Kira got this zebra bangle as a birthday gift. It is so cute and always fun to wear.

Kira picked this necklace up while traveling and loves to throw it on over a simple sweater.

How do you wear your statement pieces? Have a beautiful weekend!

Craving Kate Spade

IMG_0572

A few months ago a saw a picture of this amazing Kate Spade necklace. I wasn't able to find it online for purchase nor could I really afford it anyway so I moved on. Perhaps one day I would stumble across it...
Then a little while later while perusing the many many items at Forever 21 I came across the necklace on the right! It doesn't look exactly like the Kate Spade one obviously but the look is there and the price was right.

If there is an expensive item your currently craving I'd suggest you take a look at Forever 21, H&M and similar stores. They have a ton of affordable jewelry and are also great for finding affordable trendy pieces.

Kira's Dresser Organization

photo 2 (5)

A couple months back I made over my old dresser, you can check out the makeover post here. I am so happy with the results and it is so much easier to get dressed now. My closet is no longer over flowing and all my jewelry and make up have a place to go. Now that I'm all settled in I thought I'd update you and show you how I organize my dresser. Ashley did a similar post last year which you can check out here

I try to keep the top of my dresser clean and organized at all times. That way I can set out jewelry and make up on it as I get ready. I also use it often as a makeshift standing desk and like to set my computer on top. Plus it just looks nice when its all clean!

I like keeping practical items handy on my dresser like lotion and perfume as well as a few sentimental items. I love seeing my signed copy of The Weeknd's KissLand everyday along with a baby pic of me and my bro and one of my grandparents. The canvas is a gift from Ashley that has one of our all time favorite quotes from Season 2 Project Runway, aka the best season!  Also if your digging those custom crayons, you can learn how to make them here.

This little contraption is the best! I bought it at Marshalls, it's intended purpose is for the office but it works perfectly for my makeup and jewelry. In the first drawer I keep the makeup I use on a daily basis, while the special occasion makeup/ extra stuff goes in the second drawer.

Let's get organized, organized!

Ashley, Kira, and decorating.

In my head, the title of this post is inspired by this fabulous 80's song! I was recently catching up on one of my all-time favorite blogs, the wonderful Emily over at Cupcakes and Cashmere, and was totally inspired by her closet organization post from a few months back. I think that changing things up every few months, especially with the switch of the seasons, can be great for anyone.

On my dresser I keep everything that I need on a daily basis and some fun little extras.

I got these fun chevron printed bracelet and necklace holders at Z Gallerie about a year ago. To be honest they are actually a bowl and plate! I think looking out for your favorite patterns and colors should be your top priority next to functionality. It makes a huge difference when grabbing for your favorite bangle or necklace.

Okay, I need to be honest - I just recently fell in love with rings. I have always had a lot, but because they were in a little box I never grabbed one in the morning. Since I got this fun ring and earring holder at Target my life has changed. It makes picking something super easy, and since they are right in front of you all the time it is easy to remember what you have- especially if you have been on a ring buying binge like me! Find whatever ring/earring holder works the best for you - in college my best friend, Amy, put her rings on the ears of a wooden giraffe sculpture she had!

Perfume bottles are so pretty you want to make sure they are a focal point of your dresser. Don't have them in the back of your cabinet collecting dust. This way it also makes it easier for you to switch it up in the mornings depending on your mood.

Lastly, make sure you bring in as much of you as you can! It's YOUR room! Include pictures of family and friends, quotes and momentum's from travels, candles, and what ever is inspiring you at the moment!

Happy organizing!
